Spoilers for 5x18 (I don’t think I don’t need to be clearer but if you don’t want to be spoiled don’t read this :BB)

Am I the only one going crazy at the thought of Sheldon insisting to sleep in Penny’s bed because he is too tall and won’t be comfortable but insists sleeping in Amy’s couch even…

what i noticed on the fanforum spoiler thread is that s/a shippers interpret it as a caring gesture from sheldon that he let amy sleep in her bed while he “forced” penny to sleep on the uncomfortable couch. the same people who constantly claim that s/p shippers over-interpret things.

oh and i’m so fed up with the argument that penny is like a mother to sheldon thus there can’t be anything romantic. she cares about him and helps him a lot, but what’s so wrong with it? it’s already canon that she’s like a mother leonard never had as well. i don’t see shippers commenting on that one though.

Protip: hardcore shippers of any ship will over-interpret things as far as everyone else is concerned. This is why I multiship, so I don’t get fanatical over any one ship and start foaming at the mouth. It works most of the time. Really.

You know, BBT fans, don’t worry about anyone acting like a parent/sibling/whatnot to anyone. In Red Dwarf fandom, we have a male human MC whose romantic choices are a hologram of his dead bunkmate (necrophilia), a creature who evolved from the ship’s cat (bestiality), a robot (robophilia), and his ex-girlfriend/mother (incest). Oh, and he’s his own dad. So, you know. A little implied Freudian shiznit is nothing.

I don’t mind the over-interpreting, as long as S/P shippers don’t get criticised for having their own opinions. And I mean criticised in a ridiculous, childish way, like on the fanforum spoiler thread. It sometimes gets nasty and almost personal. Frankly, now that Roxanne is going to post the taping reports on her blog, I’ll try to stay away from this thread.

I kinda multiship as well, I’m not opposed to any pairing as long as it’s done well (the only reason I can’t stand L/P is the way the writers have been portraying their relationship since the moment they got together; and the reason I so adore the idea of Sheldon and Penny being together a “little” more is that I lovelovelove their dynamic and I think this really could work as a canon finale). But I do have this weakness for getting into discussions about the show, I admit, especially the arguments. Well.

(BTW I’ve already told you on LJ that I absolutely adore your writing, but seriously, woman, you’re one of the best in this fandom. And cracky porn is aaaaawesome)

I avoid spoilers, so I don’t hang out on fanforum (not to mention I could stand to not be signed up to yet another forum). Sounds like a good thing that I don’t if people are nasty, because, well, waste of time. I might start reading Roxanne’s taping reports after the episodes though because it’s fun to read what gets shot and not used.

I thoroughly recommend Red Dwarf. Forgive its crappy sets; the beautiful scripts and the amazing actors make up for them. Out of all the episodes I can think of very few that I haven’t rewatched repeatedly.

That fanforum is pretty brutal. You get your head ripped off for being a S/P shipper because it’s “not real therefore not conjecture.”  Basically, most see it as an insult if you’re not a L/P.  I still go there though. Ï’m not sure why.

What the fuck is the point of a fan forum where you can’t speculate about possibilities other than canon? Seriously, what is the point? If all you can do is discuss canon… I mean, it gives you a fair bit to talk about, what with the misogyny (obviously I can talk for days about that alone) and stereotyping and the fun parts as well, but I’ve always felt that discussion of non-canonical ideas is an integral part of any fannish discussion.

I know. I’ve said that many times, but the response is usually “can we stop shipper talk and go back to spoilers?”  Um, I wasn’t dissing your ship. I was discussing the possibility of mine (which I even admitted was practically zero.)
